Steven specializes in the iconic. He creates modern glam-heroines that are recognizable for their unforgiving and unrelenting gazes. Women who don’t ask for permission. That is what Steven leaves behind on the page.
A focused and driven technician that has nostalgia for the greats, Steven has the tools and knowledge to go toe to toe with the big beauty artists of the 90’s. It is easy to see the influence of his biggest inspirations, the unforgettable and progressive editorials of Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia.
His passion and perfectionism are ever apparent in the powerful imagery he creates. He approaches commercial work through to covers with the same impeccable level of quality.
“I try and emulate that standard in everything I put forth. For me, I love creating art with other artists. It isn’t just about the makeup or hair but the image as a whole.”
At the age of 21 Steven moved to Montreal from New Brunswick, where he grew up. Driven and competitive, Steven swiftly moved from working at Aveda, taking classes to build his skills, to parlaying a trip with Moroccanoil into a game-changing opportunity. After eight years working as their Brand Ambassador and Creative Director and travelling globally, Steven has gained invaluable experience from some of the world’s most legendary names in hair, working alongside the likes of Orlando Pita, Howard McLaren and Peter Gray. He has created looks for prestigious fashion houses including Marchesa, Zac Posen, Carolina Herrera, Badgley Mischka, Monique Lhuillier and Paul Smith for both the New York and London Fashion Weeks.
Steven’s confident, powerful and head-turning transformations have graced the pages of renowned publications including Vogue, Elle, Glamour, Fashion, Harper’s Bazaar and Grazia.
“Clients respond to what I do. Hair is a process. Editorial hair is very specific. I like to make women look the most beautiful they can. I take what they have and enhance it to the maximum.”
